An Early Literacy Collaborative School in
association
with Lesley University
Literacy Collaborative
We at Saint
Mary School are implementing the frameworks of the Literacy
Collaborative through Lesley University. Through these frameworks
it is our goal to enhance the learning of our students and extend their
learning abilities through a more focused approach on literacy
instruction. This process will enable the teachers in K1—2 and grades 3
- 5 to measure the growth of students as they are developing their
cognitive abilities.
This program
promotes learning through oral language, written language, and social
interaction.

Reading Recovery
Grade 1
Reading Recovery is designed for the
lowest achieving 15–20 % of the first grade population. It is a short
term literacy intervention program where lessons concentrate on building
a reading and writing process which helps students attain the average
reading level of his/her class. The children receive daily individual 30
minute lessons by a trained Reading Recovery teacher.
